It's double funny you mention this, I notice some things that are illegal in some places have a *good* (short term effect at least) on my chess! I have been feeling some guilt xD
Chess.com's Anti-Doping Policy
Be careful what you ask for. The world of bullet chess would take a hit because probably half of the players are jacked up on some kind of stimulant. I'm not just talking about caffeine either. Some only take a break from the bullet madness to take a drag off their crack pipe.
When I was in school a million years ago, the unofficial rule was: if you drink coffee while studying, you should drink coffee during the test. Seems having the same feeling helps with memory.
Some people have trouble with sarcasm, methinks..... that said, I concur whole-heartedly with David. Clearly the people who don't agree are either strung out on caffeine or they are hepped up on goofballs.
Play me in the evening after the coffee wears off and the liquor is starting to take effect.
:-)
Thank you for making my day. I happened to open your post during dinner at a restaurant and my wife literally almost choked on her food from laughing so hard. Some of the replies are just as hysterical. However, I don't doubt that nootropics such as Piracetam will enhance your chess game to some extent, perhaps noticeable, perhaps not.
Few pulls on the old bong & my massive mug full of coffee sweetened up with 2 table spoons of sugar helps me play my best.
Caffiene doesn't make you smarter or even more alert or awake. It just makes your heart beat faster so it wears out sooner, making you die sooner.

You are not putting enough coffee in, try a table spoon of the scummy stuff
It has come to my attention that chess.com does not have an anti-doping policy. With all the talk about "fair play," I find it a sick joke that I might be playing across the interwebs from someone who has way more than 12 micrograms of caffeine (or even ephedrine!) per liter in their urine! (See FIDE regulations on caffeine restriction here https://www.fide.com/FIDE/handbook/WADA%20Anti%20Doping.pdf and here https://www.fide.com/fide/fide-anti-doping-regulations.html ). If we can't control caffeine abuse, what chance do we have of playing someone who isn't jacked on piracetam!? Aniracetam!? Blood infused with all the tams, simultaneously?!
I want convictions, I want urine testing, and I want fair play!
Who the hell cares? These rules apply to players in select International tournaments, and then men with a FIDE rating over 2700 and women with a FIDE rating over 2500.
99.9% of chess.com players will never reach that! Therefore, if you are an IM like pfren or an expert like myself or a Class C player like a large chunk of chess.com players, nobody bleeping cares. Go take your codeine or adderall and drink 50 liters of a highly caffinated drink like coffee or Mountain Dew!
I tend to agree. I would also suggest scheduled and identical (as regards to protein, carbohydrates, fats, etc.) meals before and in between matches. Everyone must be equal.
I think coffee is basically poison. I like great cups of tea, especially the genus sarcasma miasma. My nan lived on 5 cups of tea a day til she was 98, and she was sharp as bullet tacks and totally independent : ) She used to cream us at Liverpool Rummy cards all the time, a couple of us think she was amazing at cheating. She never got caught, if that is what she was doing!
However roasting coffee is pretty cool. I like the crazy stages of that. It's a beautiful way to treat poison xD
Morphy Revenge?!
