as some of you who have read any of my past forums know, ive been playing chess for about 2-3 months.. now, ive gotten decent at the game, forks, pins, exchanges, etc... but my problem now is that although i have tactics, i have NO strategy what so ever... some ppl might say "wats the difference".. the diff. is that tactics is short term while strategy is long term... i just dont even know how to comprehend how to even develop a strategy when you never know your opponets next move... i looked around the net and found nothing, so, i decided to seek help from some of the bightest and most helpful chess players ive evr talked to...

so, plz inform me of how to think up strategys, and if you know of any other blogs or sites that can fill me in with detail, then please share them with me... thanks

I would maybe look into some famous games that have been played, maybe people's online collections of favourites or a book of chess games to see perfect examples of planning. I think that would be the best place to start to understand planning.

Its a very difficult subject to find good material on.

If you can get the book 'Play Like a Grandmaster' by Kotov, thats good.  It explains planning very well.  His previous one ' Think Like a Grandmaster'  I found a bit confusing.

Or any well annotated games collection should help,  but the trouble is , they aren't always well annotated.

Sorry I can't help more

''Winning Chess Strategies'' by Yasser Seirawan and Jeremy Silman

it explain strategic principles such as pawn structure, relationship between bishop and knight, stopping enemy counterplay, and the thought processes behind some faulty strategies and how to avoid them
