A rating drop like that is always health related, whether psychological or otherwise. After having played over 40 years, I can say that because of health, I am nowhere near the strength I was at 25 years ago when I was playing masters invitationals OTB. My neurological health deteriorated and I have to accept that the limit to what I can achieve in chess is around 900 points lower than it used to be for bullet. I take medications to control seizures, and I think they have destroyed my brain over the years. I am shocked at how much I fail these days. Chess is emotional for me, considering the way I used to play. For a long time I was just expecting to "snap out of it" and return to being my "normal" self. Now the deterioration seems to be speeding up. I get tilted easily and thus have ridiculous losing streaks because I actually stay angry at myself and self-sabotage. Just this week I lost 200 points in bullet. I closed my previous account because I was embarrassed to be below 1600 in bullet. I had no idea my decline would continue year after year. This decline is something we will all face, to a greater or lesser degree. It's depressing to have all that study and knowledge and passion just evaporate and all that's left is a relict compulsion to play with no interest or enjoyment possible.

Today i lost my nearly 200 elo i was on 700 elo but my losing streak was a peak and now at 615. I guess I am gonna go in a depression 😢

I recently hit my peak of low 1700s in blitz, minimal study just playing a lot recently after a few years. This week I have dropped over 200 elo points! Has anyone else gone through such dips?

I am tilting massively and starting to not enjoying it. I am used to losing in chess, but when you losing to players you think you should be beating it feels worse. And the drop it Elo makes it feel like you are unlearning chess.

I can't see basic tactics, or seeing threats and forgetting them 2 moves later, blundering loads.

I don't see how you can just forget or unlearn chess in the space of a week.

Yes I reached 2300 then went down to 2000 it happens to everyone though the main thing is to make sure you eventually get back to lets sy 2200(somewhere between 2000-2300)

For example

Many people are advising to take a break. How many days should I take a break for? I lost elo in rapid by the way.
