Oh thanks. So the more i play the higher i get. Sounds like a way to just get people to play as much as possible.

Yep, more or less.
I think it's kind of fun though. I'll get some middle league then forget it exists
Wood League 4 life!
To be honest, I cooled a little on the idea of leagues when I realised that part of advancing is kinda based on luck. You might be put in a league where hundreds of trophies are necessary to advance, but others might be lucky enough to need less than 100. It all depends how fierce the competition is.
There's no consistency.

That's only at first though. You'll eventually get to a league where you'll have to work for promotion... to the point that even re-joining to try for an easier division won't make it easy. That's sort of the whole point for me. One week I'll have to try, and that will be fun for me.
1st week I won my league with 1280pts and 2nd place was just 715
This week I've needed a whopping 2k pts to make sure of 1st place.
the 715 that was needed for 2nd place in the 1st week would only make 14th place in my stone lg this week.

Fair enough, you're a skilled player and you seem to win most of your games. And I'm... Err... Not.
I feel like a couple of games a day is all I can really manage if I want to maintain the quality of my chess and my rating and that's probably not enough games to make it out of my league.
I can't focus on both. Without tanking my rating, I don't think I'll be able score enough wins.

After a few days, a little over 400,000 will, yes.

The way chess.com has it set up is utterly stupid and they are clueless how the rank system works.
In mine, 14th place has 500. There are TWO with 500. The next spot should be 16th. But no, they have it as 15th. You could promote 60 player not by having a 46-way tie for 15th, but rather by having a 4-way tie for 1st, and a 4-way tie for 2nd (SHOULD BE FIFTH YOU CHESS.COM CLOWNS), and 4 more tied for 3rd (SHOULD BE NINTH), etc.
700 is 14th? Sheesh. My stone league must be really weak. 1500 would put you in 1st, my 769 is 6th, and 500 would promote you.

Nah, 500 will promote you in the typical stone league. That person's is just harder than normal.
And ties don't matter. Divisions are assigned randomly, and it's very unlikely a group of strangers will agree to stop on a certain number. All you have to do is have safeguards against errors where everyone in a division is set to 0 and then they all promote... junk like that.

Hah - 15th in my stone league is currently 136.
There is going to be an interesting effect - I expect it to be significantly easier to get promoted in "behind" weeks - wood->silver should be much easier this week than last, and next week than this, it will be easier to go silver->bronze.
The leagues idea is clearly generating some interest. It's just a shame that they didn't design it sustainably - eventually, everyone will be promoted except for new joiners.

I'm not sure.
I think the average person doesn't even realize they're in a league... so it might not matter what week you join. Sure the #1 spot might change, but the minimum needed to promote for the first few leagues may stay the same... in fact I expect that will be the case.
Now onward to Silver!
