Everybody has heard of Arjun. There's a rumor that Arjun & Hans are going to play a match after the speed chess championship matches are over. I think Arjun will likely win that but all these matches are great, there should be a lot more of them.

I'm microwaving some popcorn now.

i want him to win, it would be so funny. imagine he just says chess speaks for itself and walks away. Then he will go on twitch and take a sponsorship from a beads company

Idk I think his rise and how aggressive his elo is rising is super odd. I think we need to heavily scrutinize and put the most cheating stringent measures in place for all players. His rise is incredible once in a generation talent but he needs to as scrutinized as much as possible. The most odd thing is how confident he is that he's 2800 which is insane. Their's only 1 2800 in the entire world and he some how knows he's going to get this rating that is very strange to me. He needs to prove beyond a reasonable doubt he's playing fair.

Lol we only scrutinize him and not the other top talents?

It doesn't really matter all players who play for prize money should be proctored and their should be the highest level of cheating detection systems put in place at all levels. He needs to prove beyond a reasonable doubt he is playing fairly. If it's consistent then ofcourse his rise in elo is incredible. His games vs MVL, wesley I saw and I must saw I was very surprised.

How is one supposed to "prove" that they are not cheating?? He's already been through the Magnus drama, guess what? Found not cheating in his otb games. It is those who believe he is cheating that need to do the proving. Besides that I agree with you.

Goku2811

Again it doesn't matter he needs to take the initiative and dispel all naysayers and we need the absolute most strict anti-cheating measures possible. That's for everyone. If he doesn't do that their will remain doubts. I've seen some of his games and they are incredible.

sndeww

What can one do to "take the initiative" to "dispel naysayers"?

BigChessplayer665

Hans was top second on the leader board before apparently it was due to a cheater getting banned :/

In response to those who question the meteoric rise of his rating I point out this: Compare his rating graph with the plandemic years. The reason that matters is because all players stopped tournaments for a long while but the young players were still training & didn't stop improving. Now imagine if u could keep getting coaching, keep studying, keep training but ur rating didn't move because u weren't playing any real rated games. What do u think will happen when the tournaments resume? Imagine ur really 2200 level but ur rating is still at 1700 because u couldn't play real tournaments. Ur gonna get huge chunks of gains quickly once u return to rated play. The flood gates will open. That's what I think happened to Hans along with a LOT of young improving players.

DreamscapeHorizons

Improving steadily at a time when he couldn't play rated tournaments. Then of course when the tournaments started up again... BAM! Many young ratings started rocketing up, not just Hans.

I can concur, I got to about 2300 online half a year before my OTB rating started shooting up. Of course it will look very strange just from this graph alone but if you check my blitz rating everything will make sense.

So u were still under 1100 when the shutdowns started in early 2020 but kept studying right? When u returned u were way better but ur rating didn't show that YET. Thats my thoughts on why Hans rating graph shows big jumps from upper 2400s to low 2600s during the period right after the shutdowns.

basically. I made this account in 2019 when I was starting to take chess seriously, and you can tell from the graph how i improved. And of course covid in early 2020 meant I didn't have time for it to show on otb graph, which basically is your point.

There are 2, 2800 rated players in classical- Magnus and Hikaru; with Fabi at 2798---then Erigaisi, at 2778.

QathetMike

I think Hans will continue to improve, and may end up as the best in classical- however being the best in all the time limits is very, very, ambitious.

I would also point out that, yes he has beaten the players he mentions- but he did not say what his over all record against those players is.
