Happy to Announce The Srinivasa Ramanujan Dream Cup! Win 1 month Diamond Membership for 12 winners!
Will post the format tomorrow.
You can meanwhile register just by posting your interest to participate
Ramanujan passed away when he was 32!
During his short life, Ramanujan independently compiled nearly 3,900 results (mostly identities and equations).
Many were completely novel; his original and highly unconventional results, such as the Ramanujan prime, the Ramanujan theta function, partition formulae and mock theta functions, have opened entire new areas of work and inspired further research.
Of his thousands of results, most have been proven correct.
The Ramanujan Journal, a scientific journal, was established to publish work in all areas of mathematics influenced by Ramanujan, and his notebooks—containing summaries of his published and unpublished results—have been analysed and studied for decades since his death as a source of new mathematical ideas.

I will write more about him and my interesting conversations with a friend, a mathematician who was a long time family friend of Ramanujan's wife; he also published a book on Ramanujan which is so precious to all who love math around the world.
I was moved to tears many times, when we talked about him and then i thought, i can pay a tribute to him in some small way that I can, and this cup was born!
below: a page from Ramanujan's letter to Hardy
and you know something, interestingly, when asked how he arrived at all those complicated equations, he'd simply say "I saw it in my dreams" and this meme was born:
Please participate! <3 <3 I'm inviting everyone!
As we play, we will learn more about the life of this man from India, who made ground breaking contribution to mathematics.
Just put in your Id, and based on your ratings you will be paired with an opponent
I need help with the structuring of this tournament, because I haven't done this before.
@Llama, @Gabemiami10, @Chesssblackbelt, @BigChessPlayer665, @TheUnderDog001 as usual be a part of this. You are the heart of this. <3 and @Kyu13 <3 @MirMan90 and my dearest @KeSetoKaiba, @romkachess <3 We need more people on board! It's fun!
When were you thinking of hosting the chess event and what type time control were you thinking? Daily? Rapid? Blitz? Bullet? Once we have a better idea of what you were thinking, then we might be able to help you by recommending a good tournament format.
p.s. I already have diamond membership, so if I play and win something, then I'd like to "gift" my won membership to someone I choose (idk who yet and obviously I haven't won anything yet either xD)
Dearest K,
I'm thinking of only bullet
1+0 from our experience in that gold membership gifting, this was fairly fool proof
Ofc, when you win, you can gift it to anyone that you like! <3 <3
Okay, your tournament. Bullet it is then
How long would you like the tournament to last (estimate)? That will depend on if you want more of an arena or swiss format event.
I can't tell you how excited I'm about this. Imagine Ramanujan's name will echo in every corner of CC! <3 <3

Feels kind of random you picked this person as the topic of the event, but sounds like a good thing and I'm glad you are excited about it

first let's freeze the participants list
Swiss should be fine
I just looked it up
A Swiss tournament is similar to a Round-Robin tournament in that no players are eliminated. Every player will play every round, and the player with the highest number of points at the end of the tournament is the winner.

Looks fine to me
Celebrating the mathematician extraordinaire!
12 Winners will get 1 month Diamond Membership!
It's a fun match. Anyone can participate.
