How Do You Calculate Rating Change?!

Sort:

Hey, I've just played a really good tournament and the new USCF ratings haven't been posted yet... so I wanted to know how to calculate how much rating I gained. I tried searching up but everything is just so confusing. Does anyone here know how?

This is a bit old but should be close.

You don't need to worry about it

k-factor is a bit tricky to mathmatically calculate (that's why computers usually perform this task for us), but basically it is the part of the formula which decides how much to swing the rating for wins or losses when the player account is inactive. If you have a stabilized rating and an active account (played a live chess game in last 90 days for that time control), then the k-factor probably won't matter much if at all.
