Adults just make a lot of mistakes

I spent 26 seconds and made a stupid move, Rf3. Frankly, there is no point in starting as an adult. There is no point in analyzing. People here like to pretend that "anyone can improve if they do xx and yy". If that were true, everyone would be able to stay at 1000+, but that's not the case. That's just a bunch of nonsense to make themselves seem less negative.

The most important thing for adult starters is to be happy to stay in triple digits for the next few decades of play and not expect any improvement.

This post is nonsense, you played that "stupid" move because you haven't played enough chess to learn what a good move in a position like that is. This negative post of you whining because you don't think you will improve is only putting a barrier upon yourself and your capabilities. Change the mindset of you wish to improve.

Hey, your rating is 1700. Trade me for my brain!

Complaining is important. In volcanic terms, would you rather have multiple small explosions or one big one? Maybe having small explosions periodically is what keeps me playing chess.

You won't improve unless you try - what did you do wrong? Try not to do it again. Adults can improve significantly, but they have unrealistic and rushed expectations.

Always curious as to why these low rated games are so strange so decided to take a look:

At move 11 White has huge advantage: +3.89

then miraculously at move 12 black starts approaching SF 17 level Qd6 , Ng4, h4 , Qh6 (#4 choice), hxg3 might be non engine, f5 is # choice again, fxg4 is non engine move, be6 is #1 sf move, exd3 again , re8 is non engine,

Unfortunately at end white still blunders against villain whose last moves were weak

However I think the moves I mentioned in sequence seem too strong for a 778 esp the h4 move is more advanced but then white played pretty strong as well until the end.

Rf 3 is typical blunder at this level but dont see how black came back with those moves before...oh well...

That's what you think. For more...productive and less depressed people who actually enjoy chess however, they would get chess books and start studying

You did have a nice advantage there though

I see you changed the title, I worked for my rating and you have yet to take the steps I have, even after changing your title this title is still showing a negative mindset, yeah adult improvement may be a treacherous path but it's still a path many have walked, Apexchess, a chess YouTuber just hit 2000 after around 400 days, he started the journey at 1300 I think and if that's not improvement, than I don't know what is. There are also many more cases of adults improving but this one is just one that I saw as of most recently, today actually.

This is not a good reference because the starting point is 1300. In reality, there are many adults who cannot reach 1000, let alone 1300.

The reference actually doesn't matter, I was just trying to make an example of improvement. In fact going from 1300 to 2000 is like quadruple times harder than getting to at least like 1500.

True, right not I'm kinda stuck on my way to 1800

Also kind of stuck, I got to like 1820, but since than I have been having trouble staying above 1800+ rating like my graph is fluctuating a lot going up and down every time I hop on. I am confident I can get it back but it'll definitely take some time until I breakthrough to a rating like 1900.

GodOfFleas

Adult noob here. I don't see why this has any relevance to why I started playing. Is your post suggesting that I stop trying to improve? Should I just quit to save myself the shame of an eternal low rating?

I'm not trying to become a GM, are you? Is every adult player malding over simple mistakes? Do I even know what mistake you made? No. Why? Because I'm new and I don't know what I'm doing.

I'm having fun playing with people at my level. Any adult who reads the op, should either get triggered and write a response like me, or just ignore it all together.

Respectfully and since it concerns me, I believe that the author of this topic also has errors. They are visible
to public.I think many people only take as parameter the rank numeric /Elo.Personally, I losed lots of games yesterday by bad connection, blame of a phenomena I call slow motion playing. Can be wet weather. Many of matches that I losed also can be lose by myself with good connection too, and others I think nope.We have a topic I think here, in community about causes to lose games too.Im not feel ofended by the way that adults we are under observation, and I can put my attention and discuss properly. But in this world I prefer worries or critics about other adult mistakes that can affect seriously to "Our World".I taken that easy as point of obsevation.Perhaps cause I haved a response to express.Adults also are teachers and masters and we have many in our row.Chek !

HernanCacciatore1

I add also that separatisms to refer to players for this reason is not good idea for me.I prefer tittles like "We all make lot of mistakes"🤣📸🎳⚽️🌎

It's normal to feel frustrated and defeated from chess, especially when suffering tough losses.

But once you realize that losing is part of the part to improvement, you'll be able to handle losses better, and can use them as motivation, rather than as discouragement.

Whenever you lose a game, ask yourself, "What could I have done better?"

If you already know the answer to that, then ask yourself, "How can I remember this, the next time I encounter a similar situation?"

This is how I rose from a struggling 1100 to a 2300+ player over many years - from losing and losing and losing, and trying to learn from each and every loss ...

Every lost game is like a gift, because it's showing you what you need to work on, to get stronger.

HernanCacciatore1

Agree.Master Capablanca also agrees. Can we get it. ?

You can only improve by focusing on what lies in your control. Your age isn't, so move on to more useful thoughts.
