Is it me or people only give you a rematch when they think they can defeat you again?

So, that's the question. I have the sensation people only give you a rematch when they defeat you. Once they defeat you, there will not be rematch.

Heather_Stephens

Yes, it's you.

If I play with White and win I ALWAYS offer a rematch so that they can play White and try for revenge.

FM_Checkmate

No. I don't offer rematches.

Fabio656

i received rematch from losers and winners, so ...no, i think it is you.

LethalRook_1892
It really depends on the player
iainlim
I usually receive rematches from losing players who were winning(ish) throughout the game only for me to pull off a spectacular tactic/they blunder and lose. I never rematch people when I win, that's just a bit assholish isn't it, to try and get more rating points out of someone you are confident of beating.
Heather_Stephens

You cannot be "confident" of beating someone if you have played them only once.

Pawnlings

I don't offer rematches if I get slaughtered or if I beat the opponent easily. I'm looking for an interesting game. Not a one sided disaster.

cesarvegamx

I think if you win you should not offer rematch, I find it offensive.

I've never seen this thread topic come up before. Ever.

Yes. It's just you.

For you and all the rematch trolls everywhere:

Guess what? People rematch or don't for their own reasons, which you will never know, and which you are not entitled to know. Who do you think you are? Get over yourself, people's time is their own.

Scene: any Starbucks worldwide...

"Hey, nice weather we're having..."

"Yep." *nods amiably*

"What'cha drinking?"

"Coffee" *walks away*

"Hey, I said, what are you drinking..."

"Back off"

"You're so rude, just respond to me."

"No thanks, I'm in a hurry"

"Respond to me! Me. Me. Me. I am interacting with you and you owe me something!"

*door closes in face*

No, rematch offers occur in all sorts of situations. Personally, I never offer a rematch. If one is offered to me I tend to accept if I have just won with white but refuse otherwise. I like playing lots of different opponents, not the same one over and over again.

Fabio656

I nevere ask a rematch, i like to play with different players.

If i receive a rematch request, often i accept, but depends if my opponent is fair(no troll, no chat's idiot) and if i have time to play. Very simple.

kellythekingkiller

I am usually the opposite. I want another shot if I loose.

Agreed!

ishotjr

there are 3 types of rematchers, most of which are type 3.

1. the one who rematches you once or twice and splits when beaten each time, that ones had enough.

2. the one that keeps rematching you until he wins. you could whip him 50 times in a row, you throw the 51st and he walks away happy.

3. the one that rematches you, followed by a long pause as he cranks up his chess engine for the revenge.

I never do it that way round, I always let the looser decide if they want a rematch but always accept.

Yes, I am necroing this, so I dont create a new thread.

I play low elo. Mostly blitz.
I have hardly ever received a rematch request from ones I won against to, but many times from people I lost to.
It should be the other way around - I can understand wanting to learn, but people only ever offer a rematch if I had lost/resigned. Especially/mostly if I made a dumb mistake like blundering a queen.

Offer a rematch if you lost. Not if you won.

Just my two grains of salt.

Why did half these people close their accounts
