i dont think it should be, so it might be a bug in the system. even if it were possible, i think that you're ratings are to close to have that happen. So i think its a bug in the system. in your favor
Lost a game and my rating went up...?
It was a daily game. You lost points in losing that game (you can't gain points with a loss), but between the start of that game (when the rating 'locks' on the screen) and the end of that game you concluded different games increasing your rating. The net is positive including the loss in that game.
I wish chess was that easy.
Haha, yeah me too. Losing is a strategy I could really get behind.
I think you might be right Andec, but in the info box under the game, in the ratings adjustment section it said +3. So a bit confusing. I also received a message from chess.com saying they had "detected that one of your recent opponents has violated our Fair Play Policy. As compensation for potentially unfair rating losses, we adjusted your ratings." I think that might be it.
I should stress that my opponent in the game I referenced is not the opponent who violated the policy.
Thanks again for your assistance.
I'm probably being an idiot, but it seems like my rating went up after losing this game....

Is that possible?
