Glicko rating system - Wikipedia
Yeah when you first start the rating swings are bigger, because the ELO system is trying to place you at your skill level as quickly as possible. Then when it knows roughly your level it goes down to K=16 (K is the difference in your rating between winning and losing a game, so if you play someone the same rating and win you will gain 8 points).
If you play like Mittens your rating will go up of course. However, most people gain ELO gradually as they improve over months and years, so if you gained 1000 ELO in one go it would be a bit suspicious.
Not +1,000 but +100 anyway.
Of course, I played pretty well in that game...
Oh damn that's good
It's this game, from the Malaysia vs Canada rated match.
A Heroic Defense in the Sicilian Najdorf - Kids, don't try this at home! - Chess Forums - Chess.com
When I had my first game on this account, I played a Rapid game and I got +22.7 elo. Nowadays, when I win a game, I only get +8 elo. Why is this?
