support does actually reply most of the time

SparKer_7

do a virus checkup first using mcafee or something

MaetsNori

That's definitely malware. Do a full system scan with whatever security software you have - it should be able to identify and resolve the issue.

i think it might be that the chess.com website is compromised but only for australia but I'll try do a scan anyways

Do you answer a lot of phishing e-mails? You said you use opera gx. You'll get much better results if you just use Google Chrome. By far the most common method for hackers and state-sponsored hacking organizations to spread malware is through phishing emails. Hackers have become incredibly skilled at crafting emails that trick employees into clicking on links or downloading a file that contains malicious code.

Hello! Are you still experiencing this issue?
If so, could you try switching your network to see if it persists?

HOWdumbDOyouTHINKiAM

The Microsoft "experts" are saying it might be chess.com causing it. grin

And then they suggest downloading a chess program from the Microsoft Store to see if the problem goes away. gringringrin

You can't make this stuff up. See for yourself.

Also try shutting off the computer and unplugging all cords. Wait 5 minutes, plug cords back in and turn the device back on.

i think so, but only for people in australia

today it hasn't redirected me to that website so i think the issue may have been fixed

MrsWitcher

It could be DNS poisoning at the ISP level, which explain why it’s only happening in Australia.
That’s why I suggest to try with different network. For future troubleshooting, if the issue persists, try using a different browser, device, and network.
