I think that nothing should have an anime, but that is just me.
Should there be an anime about chess?
I would so watch that. I've on occasion looked up chess anime but they do not exist. A small handful of Shogi anime exist though, If a chess anime is ever made, then I hope they actually show what's being played. They could take some of the infamous classic games played IRL by some of the greatest players ever, and that would be perfectly fine, even appreciated.
Vocaloid is not an anime (many memes poke fun at this because they have the art style and fan-base to be more than just a game series), but Len Kagamine has a song called "Checkmate."
A chess anime played out like yu-gi-oh could be entertaining. I never really Thought about that, and maybe chess+anime isn't a very Good combination, but why not Try? I'm afraid chess players might be a little bit too much old school for that to happen.
Yugioh Archfiend monsters were often chess-themed (e.g. Archfiend Queen, Archfiend's pawn, the spell card Checkmate). Also the capsule monster Yugioh saga had one of the Big 5 members with a chess-related approach (although not so obvious and direct like other references). Even one episode has Gozaburo Kaiba vs Seto (to be later adopted "Kaiba") in a game of chess (Seto also has several chess references).
These are only small references though - I'd like to see a "chess anime" now: in the style of Yugioh would be kind of funny. "I summon my pawn to the e4 square!" "Go my Knight, defense mode to hold this isolated pawn!" And of course, "Checkmate: go attack their King's life points directly!"
My current chess.com avatar may make me biased though

Pegasus should play with a third knight or enhanced knights HAHA. Maybe different characters Could have pieces with different attributes or some kind of jokers, that would not be strictly the Rules of chess, but there would be a need to make it interesting for the public. I never really played with the yugioh card games, but I had a great collection with some rare cards. If chess was ever made as the theme for an anime, having some pieces to collect Could be interesting, then one Could get their own chess set completely made of pieces they like.
Actually, this should be an anime or manga The title sounds silly (and a bit misleading), but this story is funny. A friend recommended I check this out and now I'm sharing it here xD
The bishop was pinned...
Yes they moved the queen around but the rook was still on d1 pinning the bishop

I believe there should because we already have anime for basketball, volleyball, and other major sports. So who says chess isn't a sport? Who agrees in that chess should have an anime version?
