If you find it offensive, there's a "Report" button.

no one sees your condition in real life? why no one acts?

What does this have to do with the topic?

I read some of messages here, you were told by many people but either you are too entitled to understand or you are just mental..

it would be much easier to get help, see a psychologist.

I rarely get rematch requests. When I have I decline. There are a couple of reasons: I play 30min rapid during a lunch hour and couldn’t play anyway until another day, and I just like playing different people

I don't expect any of you to openly admit to fear. Your responses are predictable and nothing new.

To those saying, 'everyone here disagrees with you', if the majority of you are afraid to lose in a rematch, do you really think you'd be here agreeing with me?

I anticipated these responses.

But the fact remains... The main reason to decline rematches. FEAR

Online chess loses its competitive edge when players decline rematches after winning. It’s even worse when their win comes from a time scramble or a mouse slip. Introducing a "Best of 3" format could fix this by encouraging more balanced and meaningful matches. One game rarely tells the full story. Let’s keep the competition alive!

The truth is, many players who refuse rematches after a lucky win are just cowards who won’t admit it. They hide behind excuses, but real competitors seek challenges, not easy exits. Chess should be about proving skill, not escaping after one game.

And before you comment the same tired excuses like “I don’t have time” or “I play for fun,” let’s be real, the main reason people decline rematches is fear. They’d rather keep an unearned win than risk losing a fair fight.

Actually I decline rematches cause I don't care XD why would I be afraid of losing what's wrong with losing anyway lol if I start accepting rematches I get annoyed when everyone declines and I tend to get more salty when I lose its less stressful to not care about your opponent at all

You get annoyed when everyone declines? Very funny

I actually don't care... Lol I only get annoyed when I go "me have to beet opponent " you completely missed the point it's just less stressful when you don't care about winning so much

Secondary reason:US higher rated players don't care and just want to enjoy chess not have a petty grudge

Even grandmasters experience fear. That’s why some of them play for draws. A higher rating doesn’t change that. But if believing otherwise makes you feel better, go ahead.

I'll let you be delusional I tend to like higher rated competition anyway

There are more lower rated players on the platform also. So my original point stands either way.

I dont see the point of rematches. If you lose, thats your fault (and vice versa). There's no lucky win, and I dont have to rematch you, and I just wanna have fun fr.

Keep making those excuses if it makes you feel better. Luck and mouse slips do happen in chess. But remember, chess is a competitive game, and rematches are part of that. That’s the whole reason the feature was designed on the platform.

Excuses for winning? You make NO sense. I accept losing and I accept winning equally. I always say GG to games as a courtesy and study matches that I lose. You also seem to forget rematches are optional, and not accepting them is perfectly fine. Rematches only occur if both people agree. Stop crying over something trivial and just play the game.

Forgot to add, fear of losing isnt the reason why I decline rematches. Most of the time I decline them because there's really no incentive to doing a rematch with someone that didn't talk to me or anything. If I was having fun and they decided on a rematch, I would absolutely accept. Otherwise I move on to the next game to bring up a new experience.

Also let me be clear, rematches aren't as much as a challenge as facing a different opponent with different tactics one after another

You are the person crying and trying to talk with me on a personal level. When I said excuse, I am talking about the excuses for not accepting rematches especially after a lucky win.

I suggest you actually read what I say, and think before you comment.

If you read what I said, you could see that I decline matches not for "lucky wins", but there was no interaction or anything. If I'm having fun and actively chatting, I'll accept a rematch, no matter if its a lucky win or loss or anything. Then I continue to rematch them every few days to see how we've grown and gotten better. I've done this with all of my friends, including some I meet on this forum. Now granted, your reasons are valid, but saying the MAIN reasons are fear of losing (as mentioned in the title and first post) is a reasoning I can't exactly get behind.

chesstopcrown

The common excuses:

1. I have more important things to do

2. I rather play a new opponent

3. They most likely will cheat in the rematch

4. I analyze each game

5. I click new game each time so I don't see rematch request

6. I am better than my opponent, I rather play someone else

The main excuse that you will NOT see anyone admit:

1. FEAR OF LOSING THE REMATCH

Just a average forum conversation, not really anything too insane or insulting. He has his opinion and he expressed it. I can respect that.

Look, I don't care about what you personally do or not do. I made a general statement.
