Using a chess board to trial and error moves during a daily game?

I’ve read that for daily games it’s okay to consult any resources except engine based resources or human aid. Does that mean it’s okay, when playing a daily game, to try out moves on the board and see how it would play out, rather than trying to work it all out in your head? Obviously this isn’t possible on rapid live games but it is possible in daily games and I’m just wondering. I remember seeing a thing about correspondence chess and how people would trial moves before picking them but I just want to make sure I’m not being unfair by being able to visualise more moves (7+) with a board vs just in my head (usually about 4-5 moves before I struggle to keep track of the board only in my head).
