Damiano is certainly one of the worst openings, I agree there. However, it depends what you mean by an "opening" because if you mean just white's first move, then 1. g4 (Grob) is objectively the worst according to Stockfish. If you mean a named opening, technically Fool's Mate would be the worst because white literally loses the game in two moves by checkmate to black:
What is the worst opening?
Yes, I do mean a named opening, but Fool's mate itself is no opening, but rather an opening trap. And is the Grob losing by force?

I consider Fool's Mate still and opening even if it ends by checkmate. There are many objectively bad openings; it being an opening trap doesn't make it "not an opening."
As for the Grob (1. g4), yes it is objectively losing by force. It doesn't take much experimenting with the engine to see how most lines black is just slightly better, but as for outright refuting the Grob Gambit, you would need to memorize some theory probably about 20 moves deep for key variations and I've never taken it that far with this opening which I seldom face. Titled players have usually studied it this deeply and if they claim it is lost, then I'll simply nod in agreement.
With this being said, this opening has many tricks in it and it can still be a strong surprise weapon for white:
Ah yes, the Duras Gambit. Now, this opening is the 2nd worst opening, as it loses a pawn on the 2nd move. It also weakens the king. But...
Let's not forget about the true worst opening, aka Damiano Defense, which, again, loses your rook or gets you checkmated. Not just a pawn and a weak king there.
Now, you could still lose only a pawn if you are careful, but white just has so much play that it doesn't matter.
And once again, how is the Grob losing by force? In other words, how can black force checkmate or a loss of material for white?
What is the worst opening that either side can play in chess? This is just for fun purposes.
In my opinion, it is the Damiano Defense, as it is proven to be losing by force as black.
