Yes, it's just for playing frequently. If you don't play 12 hours a day you have no reason to care
What's the point of leagues?
leagues are just a reward for playing 12 hrs a day, like the post in top of me says. my friend, whos 500 elo, has gotten into silver, while me, a 600 player, still bronze.
Definitely just a reward for playing more. Some of the top ones in champion are playing way more than 12 hours a day. I'm sure the guy at the top did 24 hours straight on twitch.

That will calm down a lot after the contest is over this week.
The rating system is based on the rating difference and each player's respective rating deviation (RD).

No, I got to legend league and there has not been a single day where I have played for more than 5 hours.
Leagues show how much you play, nothing to do with skill or rating. Some grandmasters are in bronze league, and at 100elo can be in Legend league. To be frank about it, it's chess.com's way of making you addicted to their site.
Leagues are also unfair, in some wood leagues the number 1 has 1000 trophies, and I remember seeing a Champion league where the number 1 had 45 trophies (the league had started a week ago).
Leagues are just a reward for playing more. Just like a bad mobile game. I'm a 500 rated player, and I'm in the silver league, but my friend's in the ELITE league already, and he's a 200 rated player. Another thing is that for me to advance, I would need to get 600+ trophies, while my friend just advanced with 100. chess.com please fix this.

The number of trophies needed to promote is entirely dependent on how active other members in your division are and if you are at least as active.
You haven't played any games since your division started this week and the lowest member that will advance is a little over 300 now.
Leagues are just another layer of fun. I'm happy they're working correctly for everyone. You're funny bobby_max. The spirit of Frank Marshall came to me years ago & directed me towards a better understanding of the French with black. 🙂♟️
Leagues I dont thinks are determined by the hours you play, i only play about 3-4 hrs max day , im in Legend and I only really play Blitz , not rapid

It depends on how active other players in a division are but the primary metric to move forward is number of trophies and that generally equates to more games being more trophies
I've been looking at the league thing and I don't really get it. I get points for winning games with different points for different time controls. But rating is not taken into account? So is the league thing just a reward for playing a lot? Rather than for playing well.
