When you think you're a big fish, there's always bigger...

Just got double adopted in blitz chess by Daniil Dubov tonight. The truth hurts. His level is so high that I felt like I stood no chance in any game, and I'm "2700-2800" blitz here on chess.com to Dubov's 3100, so I feel like rating-wise I would have a shot, but I just got adopted twice in a row.

Oof.

Well, it's Dubov, after all. Top 30 or so in the world, isn't he? Treat the losses as learning opportunities. Study the games - level up from them.

These Russian masters are in a league all their own. I remember reading an interview that Dubov gave where he said that, when he was younger and rated around 2400 OTB, many tournament organizers in Russia didn't want him to play because they considered 2400 to be too weak (!).

When you come from a country where everyone's aunt and uncle are 2200 or higher ...
