who are the best Youtube chess teachers?

Here are my top ten!

The best YouTube chess teachers include GothamChess (great for beginners and intermediates), ChessBrah (focuses on advanced tactics and commentary), Agadmator's Chess Channel (covers classic games and analysis), The Chess Nerd (casual tips for learners), and Hanging Pawns. Each has a distinct style; try a few to find your ideal fit!

The Butcher mainly promotes shit openings. I definitely do not say that his videos are worth nothing, but he cannot be compared with someone like Danya.

Borovicka: what poor openings does he promote and what good openings does he fail to cover? I think he is very good, and he teaches and trains players who become GMS

To be honest i did not watch his videos for several years. once i watched his video about Danish gambit and was like OK I try it, and i lost allmost every game. Then I saw that he promoted Patzers opening and I was like OK now I am done with this guy.

I mean, you stumbled on probably the worst 2 openings he has covered, lol.

He has virtually every opening there is, and I can guarantee you that his lines for the Patzers and Danish were as good as you will find.. for such crazy openings .

Tell me ANY opening you currently play and I bet he has a good video for it

EasyChessOfficial1980

I will add, as an e4 player, that the Danish and Patzer are probably the two worst ways that a player over 1800 can proceed. So many other ideas in e4 chess. I dont think Butcher promoted them, he covered them, among hundreds of other videos

One funny thing about youtube teachers: once Chess24 stop existing and i had no more acces to videos of Peter Svidler, i start watching Grunfeld videos of Hanging pawns and consider him some FM or so. Than i realised he has lowew Fide rating than me, lol.

Hanging Pawns rating is OTB, right? Which I think is much higher than this site,

Of course I dont know what your OTB rating is

borovicka75

Hanging pawns (stjepan Tomic) is 1979 FIDE right now, I (Pavel Balsinek) am 1997 FIDE right now. I was confused by his online rating.

Interesting, i never played OTB and I have always wondered what my FIDE rating might be. I was 2100 on Rapid (different account) but I am now stuck around 1700.

Blitz, I am lower than 2000

My chess com rapid is about 150!higher than my FIDE, but it is hard to estima what your FIDE would be if you never playes OTB. Playing with real pieces is different wxperience than playing on monitor.

By the way, last sunday i won OTB game by using opening from Daniel Naroditsky Speedrun.

I will be honest, I could easily have put Daniel Naroditsky at number 1 on that list. After watching him consider all the moves and discount every option that is bad/good/excellent so that he finds the very best move, it just seems to sink into my mind and I play better. He is a great player and very good teacher.

I put Butcher there at the top because he has less subscribers. I think you should give him a 2nd chance, especially if there is an opening you want to learn more about

I’d say the one that’s good that basically no one knows is chesspage1. He makes good videos about chess, in fact I learned the Caro kann, kings Indian, London, and ruy Lopez from him. He also adds a little bit of comedy in his videos too. The only thing I’d complain is that he uses a text to computer voice for his videos instead of his real voice, but every thing else is good.
