Nobody knows. The only people who we know it isn't is Levy Rozman, Anatoly Karpov, Anthony Levin, and masters who don't speak Spanish.
We also know it isn't Hikaru Nakamura and everyone else who has been seen in the same place, at the same time as Rey Enigma.
you never know rey enigma could be a guy who speaks english but disguises himself as a perfect lingual spanish speaker very fluent fitting the theme of his anonymous identity online and OTB
He's an IM from Spain. 2350 to 2400 FIDE.
Evidence please...and how do you know they are an IM specifically?
I'm not saying I'm Rey Enigma...all I'm saying is that no one has seen Rey Enigma and I, in the same place, at the same time xD

only the real rey enigma would deny he is real rey enigma.... so this MEANS....

Someone on these forums did some sleuthing, and tracked down the copyright information of his products / channel ... which was registered to a name ... a name that is also on the FIDE player's list, matching a particular IM ...
So it's seems reasonable to assume ... given his playing level and all ...

Wait what. Hold on that means we know who the real Rey enigma is.... right?
There are some people that we can rule out based upon body-type and height, but nobody has definitively pinned it on anyone. It can be anyone with sort of a medium build who is probably in their 20s or 30s, who is at least FM strength, and who is fluent in Spanish, though not necessarily from Spain.
Definitely from Spain.

Plausibly, yes.
But revealing his identity seems counter-productive (cruel?) as it would destroy the whole point of his public existence ...
It's also the source of his income, so to publicly reveal his name might also make one liable for lawsuits ...

That's true. Maybe I will do some sleuthing myself..... 🤫
Also, he seems to have changed his legal name/identity to "CALAMAR JURÁSICO" ("Jurassic Squid"), which I think was a smart move.
Perhaps someone alerted him to the sleuthing loophole. Now that identity loophole has been closed.
Unless there's now a player named "Jurassic Squid" on the FIDE player's list ...
