Why are so many players from the Vatican City on this site.

It's strange that the smallest sovereign state in the world which has about 1,000 people is so disproportionately represented on chess.com. It wouldn't surprise me if 10,000 people here claimed to be from the Vatican City. What's going on here ?

Maybe everyone would like to be safe behind a big freakin' wall... (no political undertones meant)

There’s like 800 people living there (I think) most are fakers

Vatican  City is 0.44km  squared or surface area. How is there even a population of 1000 in that area?

Hypnoticdemon

Is that for real? Or a joke?

I've played thousands of games here, only a couple of Vaticans.  I suspect that one of them was a nun.  That didn't go very well for me, but I have the courage and shamelessness to admit in public...

I GOT BEAT HARD, OVER AND OVER, BY A NUN!

Maybe these folks are true to their religion and choose to identify with the Vatican? I'm sure Jews who live elsewhere have Israel as their country, just like devout muslims elsewhere may have their own country of choosing(depending on holiness)... does it really matter? nobody is hurting anybody by identifying with a flag.

Somewhere in the Vatican City complex, Sister Mary Immaculata is sitting down at her box and logging on to her chess.com account.  During her games, she has the Holy Spirit on her side.  What do you have on your side?

And I thought they misspelled vacation.

No.....oregonpatzer is correct. I think I know who he's talking about. My old geometry teacher from high school. She can be a bit rough.

Yes but even she has doubts

Every day, these people travel their country 5 times North to South and East to West. When finished, what else is there to do?

He just noticed a statistical outlier and was curious about it. He didn't say it mattered in some way.

Just cause a statistical outlier involves some type of national, political, or ethnic group, doesn't mean it's wrong to be curious as to why.

Yes, no one is being hurt by others choice of flag, but no one is being hurt by his curiosity either. And why the assumption he thinks someone IS being hurt by those identifying with the Vatican?
