Why checkers is truly a game for peasants
I play checkers and chess. I spend much more time on the latter and love chess, but I believe checkers/draughts is a superior game.
The idea of being played out to a draw by computer is meaningless. So what ?
Checkers has fewer rules and is less arbitrary in piece initial arrangement than chess. It's sad that it isn't played more. Those of us who do can claim to be geekier than those who just play chess.
Checkers has a meditative quality. It is to chess what Bach is to Beethoven.
It's likely that checkers rule simplicity is more likely to be duplicated elsewhere in the universe where games of strategy are played by intelligent beings. But who even if coming up with something like chess is going to have pawns capturing in a different way to which they move, castling , en passant , and of course the starting position itself.
Checker is not a simple game. Because of fewer move alternative it requires greater depth of calculation if not breadth. Like chess it requires one to balance space acquisition against compactness.

so other sport we don't like, called it peasants eh...
I don't think he meant to say it in an offensive way. It's just because all pieces are created equal in draughts, "like peasants".
Would anyone play a game where one side always won? No they wouldn't 🙄 Any game that is a forced win would become obsolete. Any game that is "a draw with best play" is still playable. How many chess players would keep playing if some computer said "with best play white always wins"... nobody would play. It would be classified as an unfair game.
The "solved" comments always make me laugh 😂 Checkers has simple rules but to play at the top level and win is harder than chess. You can play chess and make a bad move and still win the game. If you make one bad move in Checkers you will lose because you can't move backward and run away like chess pieces. You have to see farther ahead in Checkers. Obviously I think chess is the better game but people making fun of Checkers and being pretentious just because they think chess is harder is laughable and it's usually weak chess players talking trash about Checkers.
I think a lot of you are just misunderstanding my point. I'm not knocking checkers at all, merely saying, from the medieval era, it's how the serfs would have viewed the battle: only pawns. I'm not being snobby or saying checkers is a bad game. (I play checkers all the time!)
