i admit i've told tactics trainer to go "f**k yourself''

PepePotato

you can't checkmate with only a king, by the ways, watch your language

Yes, even though he kicked your ass and only ran out of time after 63 moves, you should have won, and got a gold star too because you believed in yourself and not those pesky official rules.

I was quite confused by this. I thought he meant 'Why the hell did I get a draw when I should have lost?'

This guy actually thinks he should have been given a win when he had a bare king against Rook and Pawns !!!

Fantastic !  Seriously, how does his mind work ?

1. I should win

2. I didn't win... THE OPPONENT MUST HAVE CHEATED BY GETTING CHESS.COM TO CHANGE THE OFFICIAL FIDE RUELS TO BE WRONG!!1!

How can this site change fundamental chess rules? This is bull****.

With an attitude like that your opponent might paraphrase the famous quote "Why must I draw with this idiot?".

http://www.fide.com/component/handbook/?id=124&view=article

6.9

Except where one of the Articles: 5.1.a, 5.1.b, 5.2.a, 5.2.b, 5.2.c applies, if a player does not complete the prescribed number of moves in the allotted time, the game is lost by the player. However, the game is drawn, if the position is such that the opponent cannot checkmate the player’s king by any possible series of legal moves.

 Makes sense.

Meat circles are much more appetizing.

We might as well eliminate time altogether if you can still get bull**** draws out of nowhere. What's the point?

shiro_europa

he ran out of time. that means you can make as many moves now without him responding. let's see you mate his king.

Dude, if you don't like it, take it up with FIDE, not chess.com. This is NOT a chess.com rule, this is a FIDE rule.

Alright, look at my latest match for example. I had a THREE PIECE DISADVANTAGE and I still won because of time.

WTF? This system is so inconsistent that it's laughable. Granted, my other match was an even larger disadvantage, but I still would have  lost in this one because a whole three pieces is a lot.

SO, care to defend the official rules now?

It's not about an advantage, if you literally have zero way to checkmate a king, then its a draw. That's perfectly fair.
