cannot connect to network over WiFi

I can only connect to the chess.com network over cellular data and not using wifi. It's been like that for three days. My wifi is fine as all other apps connect through it. Is it just me? Using iPhone 6 with latest update.

Is is your wifi network? Your employer can restrict you from visiting certain IP's.

I don't think it's that as I can access everything else.

I also have not been able to connect for three days. Worse yet, when in try the app closes and then records a loss for me by resignation.

Cornstarch, that's awful. My problem seems to have resolved itself now so hopefully you're will too. It's just suddenly working again on wifi even though I didn't change anything.

Facing the same issue. It was working fine until day before yesterday.

Is it chess.com saying NO to my wifi or the other way around?!

The site can't really tell how you are connecting. They may limit you in Live, if you have extreme lag, but you should be able to access the other parts of the site.

There is a small possibility your IP was blocked, but if it is your home connection, that is less likely.

Can you send me a personal direct message with your IP address; this sounds like a problem with your IP.

Thanks for the input guys. And the problem is only with one particular device. I am able to connect through other devices.

The interesting thing is, I am able to browse into the site using other wifi networks in the specific problematic device.

@jdcannon, no I can't do anything on chess.com from that network, so won't allow me message you.

I am using the same device and it works fine in other hotspots..

@Martin_Stahl IP block could be one possibility. I was even thinking of incompatibility between the wifi connection and the device?! (A random thought). Thinking of sending this device back.

Thanks for the response.

If it was IP block, none of your devices would work from that same connection, since most access points provide a translated address to all devices behind them; i.e. from the a website perspective, all devices on that connection have the same IP address.

If the device works fine on the site from a different connection, then that would rule out the device having issues with the site. I guess it is possible that there is some interaction between that device and your wifi, in conjunction with the site, but can't think right off what it might be, given the other information you provided.

@Martin_Stahl , Found the best solution: Returned the Phone..

I had the same issue. I was able to connect on the website. On my phone (iOS) I can only connect when I am on cellular rather than wifi. I can work around this, but it is a bit annoying.

I'm facing this same issue, I'm able to connect via cellular network but not via Wifi. I've reinstalled the app several times but I don't know what is the issue.
