delete a game?

Sort:
justice_avocado

so, i just played against a friend of mine twice--both times as white. i won both games, so at the start of the third game, i suggested that we should switch. he promptly resigned and we began some new games.

the game he resigned was "abandoned too early to affect [our] ratings," so i was wondering if we could just delete that game altogether? it seems unfair for rik (my friend) to have that extra "loss" in his profile, when really he didn't lose.

is there a way to delete the game?

thank you so much!

jay
Currently you only have control over what games appear in your own archive. Deleting a game from your archive does NOT delete it from the chess.com game database however. Not quite sure on the best way to handle this yet, since sometimes you may want to remove the game from your archive, but your opponent may not want to delete the game from his archive. We are still trying to figure out how we archive games, delete them, etc. So at the moment, no, you can't remove the game entirely from the archive, but you can remove it from your own archive.

thanks, jay. you're the greatest ever.

stupid question #2: how exactly does one delete a game from their history?

At the bottom, you'll see recent games, you can check the box and click delete....or you can view your game archive, and do the same there. Check the box and click delete. Let me know if that doesnt work for you.

thanks, jay, but......there is no such "delete" button. i searched all over.

perhaps this feature has not yet been made available to the general public? Tongue out

So there isnt! haha. Time to fix a bug. :)
jay
Ok...it should be there now!  Thanks for pointing that out. I hate when I build a feature and it never gets used cause the button is simply missing!

And the my game archive link should now be fixed as well, and take you to:

where there is a delete button.

Yarrr, my first loss was an 'out-of-time'er when i was on vacation before vacationing was allowedWink . It went towards my permanent record! I wish it wouldn't although I am not sure why I should care... hmm..
jay
That reminds me of a Wonder Years episode...."and let me remind you, any students who choose to participate in this walk out, it will go on your PERMANENT RECORD, YOUR PERMANENT RECORD."

I'm deleting all the games where I lost to either Fool's Mate or Scholar's Mate.

In other words, all of them.

There isn't one.

To avoid those complications, if second move was already played, instead of resigning just draw the game, when playing with friends.

If only the first move was played, then just abort the game and it won't register.
