Enable of Chat

how to enable chat please?

I would like to chat with people while playing chess, however I cannot find where to enable the chat. I have checked all settings and found "Game Chat" I set it to everyone but i still cannot chat. Chat says "Chat Disabled"

That is because you may want to chat with them, but they don't want to chat with you.

How to enable the chat, I cannot chat eventhough I can post something, I created my account and verified my gmail account. And still I can't chat. So idk what is the problem

How can I enable chat? I've already finalized my account by responding to chess.com email but its still disabled during the game. 

I need help even though the oponnent hasn't disabled chat how do i like able it

Play at least 10 total games and you should be able to chat.

I have been a member for about 6 months, played 100s of games, verified my account, all that stuff. 2 weeks ago the in game chat function was suddenly disabled, for, as far as I can tell, no reason. I am not a spam bot nor use offensive language.

Can someone please help with this. Much appreciation

Unrated games have that issue. I believe staff are looking into some changes related to that.

Just unrated. Apparently the back-end flow is currently different for unrated games and that flow doesn't have chat working.

That's a shame, I learn a lot from other players.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Thank you for explaining it to me.

I have a chess student who has not yet played ten games. I want to be able to chat with him (to help him) in an unrated game.

I see from preceding posts that there is an issue with unrated games that is being worked on. OK.

But is there a way for me to activate chat with a student who has played fewer than ten games on chess.com?

Not that I'm aware of. Support might be able to do it, but playing 10 games would probably be quickest.

If you wanna play and do chatting with your opponent at the same time, then I know the right thing for you. All you have to do is: click on the 'Play' option appearing on the left hand side of that vertical bar of options, hover your cursor over it so that the sub-sections in it can appear. And then select 'live chess', you'll be able to play and chat simultaneouly this way.

This answer works for those, who have done 'everyone' in the settings for chat and still weren't able to get past that 'chat disabled' message.
