Eric: POSTING in FORUM

Sort:
ChefSDB

I think that the forums would be easier to follow if the most recent postings were listed on the top of the page rather than the bottom.  In other words, reverse the order that postings are listed, that way the newest postings are easier to read yet people can still go back and read the older postings.

ChefSDB said, "Eric."  Sheesh.

Clue me in Silentfilmstar, what did I do wrong?  Isn't the designer of this site named Eric or am I a fool?

'Tis Erik not Eric, m'lord.

ChefSDB
Ahhhhhhhhhh.  That's the source of the pun silentpornstar?
ChefSDB
More importantly, does anyone agree with my original point?
silentfilmstar13
I'm sorry, I was just teasing.  I recently posted a topic about the common misspelling of his name.

About your idea:  I like the way it is now when I click on a new topic.  I do wish, however, that I would be taken to the last post when I click the link from the 'Topics I Have Posted In' page.
ChefSDB

I was teasing also silent.  No harm, no foul

I actually agree with you chef. It is impractical to scroll to the bottom each time.
ChefSDB
Perhaps Silent has a good compromise solution.  Will someone please wake up Erik and let him know what we think? (See #8)

As the great OZ once said " It is always better to start a journey at the beginning, and the beginning would be better I think at the top of a page than at the bottom of a page. But that is just me.
ChefSDB
fabill, if I recall correctly, wasn't the great OZ exposed as a fraud?

Most forums I'm used to have the default as the first post on the first page, but with an icon or text to take you to the last posted message.

What I find amazing is that I posted this topic about 15 minutes ago and already about 100 people have read it and 15 or so have weighed in and posted a comment.  Chess.com is a great site!
ChefSDB
Rameshdar has a good idea.  I guess I just find it impractical to have to scroll to the bottom everytime there's a post

Not at all! He didn't blow smoke or anything, but he turned out to be a truly great wizard, as Dorothy said. He granted all wishes asked of him, including helping Dorothy to find her own way home.

*Disclaimer*

I am only referring to the movie. We studied the book in American History, but I have never actually read it.

would it work to have a toggle in settings or even in the forums that would allow you to change how you view forums? i.e. newest to oldest or vice versa? that way you could re-load the forum to read from the beginning, or load it from the end to read the last few posts...

does that even make sense? lol... im not sure if i described that well... ??

erik

i guess we can do most recent on top... it is a little odd to read UP, but...

would it be easier if we just had a GO TO LAST COMMENT link? :)

I agree to silentfilmstar13. On that matter, you will lose the continuity of the dialogue/commentaries for that matter.Undecided
