WTF is going on chess.com

Game aborted at checkmate? No compensation given. The opponent just got away like that. Is it not disrespecting?

Ah, you claimed this community is naisu, huh? Then fix this .... Server restart my ..., is server unplug 101 times each day? Do not piss on the power outlet yo, electricity can shock the ...

The live server was restarted and all ongoing games are aborted when that happens. Unfortunately, sometimes that can sometimes happen before the server received your move.

Server restarts, are scheduled, and a banner is present advertising that fact. So if you play a game when that is present, you should be aware of that possiblity.

The server process has to be restarted for code updates, and maintenance.

how can someone that has very slim chances of winning a game abort the game in the middle of the game?????

ohhhh. Alright. Because it's so ridiculous.

There was a scheduled live server restart.

The site has to reboot the live server on occasion, for bug fixes and updates. They can't stop new challenges until all games complete, because then most people couldn't play for potentially hours.

I guess they could change to code to prevent any game from starting that might overstep the restart time, but if there's an emergency restart or crash, then there would still be aborts.

Same just happened!!!

This just happened to me! Was literally about to mate my opponent …

Has happened to me a number of times, nothing to do with severs, it's about cheating! Why can't those in charge sort it?

Can there be a warning of server restarting so we know if this is the real reason because it's happening too often and too timely.

It seems to be a trend of Indian players aborting games.... I played a match against Anwar309 from India, lost, and congratulated him. We had a rematch, then as I was a few moves away from checkmate into our second match...he aborts game. It doesn't show up on my history of games, lost the link, and lost the notations. Very frustrating...

Players can't abort games once moves have been made. There was a server restart, which aborts all ongoing games.

Is that an assumption, or were you able to verify there was indeed a reboot in this case?

May own experience makes a server reboot look highly unlikely.  Yes, I’ve had the occasional game aborted mid-game.  However, I’ve had too many games abort within seconds of sealing the opponent’s fate to believe it’s just a coincidental server reboot.

If the game was aborted, it was either a server reboot, or part of an arena that ended. Since I posted it was a reboot, then there were other posts around the same time you posted as well, that made that the most likely candidate of the two.

I was winning and my opponent abort the game. This is fishy. I looked online and saw a lot of similar experiences. It seems that there is really a way to abort the game when you are losing.

There was a server reboot around the time you posted. Players can't cause aborts once moves have been played by both sides.

Same thing happened with me many times.I pinned the opponents queen and that move,he aborted. How is that possible?

This has happened many times with me when the opponent is losing.I am from India yet i don't mind admitting many times this issue has happened with Indians..Plz look into it.Its not fair

It happed today with me, I wasn’t winning but my adversary was 200 points plus than me and we were having a equal game… aborted, it sounded weird to me!
