Ratings deviation. If you know statistics, it's like the standard deviation.

 

Your rating is 1532 and your RD is 113. That means with 95% confidence your true strength is between 1306 (rating - 2 x RD) and 1758 (rating + 2 x RD).

 

My rating is 1770 and my RD is 188. That means with 95% confidence my true strength is between 1394 (rating - 2 x RD) and 2146 (rating + 2 x RD).



The more often you play, the lower you RD becomes.

thank u- as a medical lab tech i am familiar w/SD, & u'r answer makes sense, AND is more illuminating than the article mentioned by someone else. luv trees? u can't see my house on Google maps because of the pecan trees.

How does one find out their RD?

leggy, I think now only paying members can see their RD. Click on "My Home" (top right) | "Online Chess" (top right) | "See Full Stats Page" (bottom right).
