How to make a puzzle

Nah I think yours is good too

I made a simple under promotion puzzle

(White wants to stalemate black with the move rook to d8 and if black takes the rook it will be a stalemate, however black wants the sweet win so he doesn't let that happen, black must under promote to a knight to prevent stalemate, which checks the white king and the only way to block the check is to take the knight with the rook, which is then taken with the blacks dark squared bishop, black is two bishops up and white has no way to stop black promoting to a queen)

Subgiant: check the engine analysis by clicking on the small magnifying glass icon in the bottom left corner. You will see that the puzzle is simply bad, it has 3 alternative solutions: Be3, Bd4 and Bc5 also win.

All Be3, Bd4, and Bc5, lead to the same win just in 3 moves instead of 2, however I do see your point as in that it promoting no longer leads to a stalemate for white, so i've edited it

That one solves all the problems (except that Be3 but i'm still trying to find a way to fix that) but it's also quite simple and boring so I made another one that's more interesting

This one is where black forces checkmate if the white rook leaves the 8th rank which completely breaks white's plan of stalemating

Here's one i actually came across playing a game. The answer is so simple, yet so brilliant!

The Nxe5 move completely traps the bishop and leads to an extremely quick checkmate.

Another good move is Re8 (and yes, I know the bishop could capture, but then the g3 rook could swoop down and team up with the queen for an easy checkmate), but it doesn't lead to a 'mate quite as quick.

Nerd-Man

Subgiant, I know you're online right now, I just challenged you. Play at 3:00?

Nerd-man: there are 2 moves that are mate-in-1.

Nerd-Man

where?

Nerd-Man

Subgiant, sometime go to forums and scroll down the topics until you see "more puzzles," then click on "Insert Puzzles Here," a forum I posted. It will have my up-to-date-but-incomplete set of puzzles. You can post a bunch of yours on there, too.

I uploaded the PGN in the "Insert PGN", but when I insert it, only the pic gets showed. Where to write the correct puzzle moves?

You need to make the moves and the tick the Puzzle checkbox on the Theme tab.

Thanks, this was so helpful!! I was ready to smash my keyboard as the site would not recognize Urls from live games.

When you save an analysis of a game with the analysis board, a custom URL is generated. That kind of game URL can be posted.

Did you add the moves and check the Puzzle box in the Theme tab?
