I didn't abandon the game but I lost and my rating went down.

Still the same problem in 2020. My connection stopped for literally 5sec and the game said that I resigned!

This same thing has happened to me multiple times now. I'm losing rating when I'm absolutely still in the game and still have time. It's ridiculuous

I can't believe Chess.com just told me I had abandoned the game!  when I double-checked it showed black's move but it happened literally at the same time as me being told I had abandoned the game.  #FairPlayNeeded #INeedEveryPointICanGet

I am just waiting for the other side to play their move and I was winning by 8 points then it says I have abandoned but I haven't because I had to wait for the other player to play😢  This is too much.

Completely agree.if I lose a connection(happens all the time) for even a short period I forefit it as being abandoned. If I have 3 minutes left on my clock I should get all 3 minutes.  Chess.com change this. It has been an issue for years and numerous complaints   take action already.  Your users obviously want this changed.

How much time you have depends on  a few factors.

However, people purposely abandoning creates the environment where there's a need to mark games as abandoned. 

Why would someone who is winning intentionally abandon a game? Who is ahead should also factor in this.

Chess.com contacted me and sorted this issue out so I am happy now, but I constantly keep an eye on my connection because if it is not 100% strong then I know I have 60 seconds and I can refresh to stay in the game 👍

This has happened to me twice now, and I just started playing on here again. My Internet was fine, but still flashing as if I had abandoned. Why would I abandon a game I was winning?

I lost my game as it said abandoned, but it wan't even my turn. Very frustrating.  

I completely agree and am infuriated. Ive lost hundreds of points over time due to the simple 5 seconds disconnection. Chess.com needs to understand that connection issues are things that take place worldwide, and when i disconnect for 5 seconds, that does not mean I abandoned the game. Today I had a mate in one (that i even premoved) but got disconnected whilst attempting to play, so I, because of 10 seconds, lost 8 points. I care deeply about my rating and am always trying so hard to improve, and it is really heartbreaking that my connection issues are affecting my account this much. I definitely belieeve that you should have all the time on the clock that you have to reconnect, and then lose on time. It is your right. I am so disturbed and I hope you can fix this issue CHESScom

This just happened to me today. I made a move. The move stayed highlighted in yellow but my timer kept decreasing. I asked the other player and he said he saw the move and made another.then the game said I resigned and then I see his move seems hard to disconnect if you are chatting with the other player.
