You probably just lost connection. If you do that it will look like your opponent is thinking why he/she have actually moved.
i got abandon because my opponent didn't move for 5 mins

The app clearly showed that opponent's clock was running. They didn't move. Only sent some chat emotes. Their clock showed the abandon timer. When the timer was up their piece moved and I got abandon and also our clocks switched.

If you're on the iOS app there's a known bug impacting some games. Staff are aware and are working on a fix that should be available soon.
