In this game, why did I gain 9, being lower-rated, while my opponent lost 8?

In this game https://www.chess.com/game/live/129299601961 , I was initially rated 2264. My opponent was rated 2286. But however, after the game finished, I was given 9 points (as specified in the chat) but my opponent lost only 8. Why did this happen? He should have lost 9 points, being higher-rated, but that wasn't applicable for him. I hope someone clears up this confusion.

Hey, why is no one responding? This really is urgent, and needs attention.

It’s not always equal. The amount that you get, doesn’t always match the amount your opponent loses

How does that happen and why is it not equal? Thats what I want to know. There is no thing as rating deviation on my profile since I'm a regular player.

I'm quite interested on why this happened let me take a look and see if I got you

Why would it be urgent?

It's probably just caused by rounding, but there can be other factors as well.

you really don't see how somebody winning 9 points but the other guy only losing 8 isn't game breaking? there could potentially be an elo exploit here that inflates ratings overall.

Because nobody seems to reply to important posts here. I got these replies only after 2 days I posted this issue.

If you want to contact support, contact support. There is a pinned topic at the top of this section that explains how.

Posting in the forums does exactly nothing.

Also, as I mentioned, the whole thing is only a rounding issue, not a bug or anything like that.

How are u absolutely sure that this is not a bug? There was NOTHING, absolutely Nothing in the Support page. How would u even know if it really is a bug or not?

HangingPiecesChomper

where's the proof that it's a rounding issue and not a game breaking bug?

Common sense is the proof.

"Game breaking bug". Don't you think that you are overpushing this whole trolling thing a little bit?

There are lengthy explanations available in the Help pages.

The ratings adjustments are a combination of multiple factors

The first looks at the difference between the two ratings.

The second looks at statistical measures gauging how accurate the two ratings are . In general, newer player ratings are judged to be less accurate., so they are allowed to adjust faster, so that they get to the right level more quickly. Players who have been inactive for a while are also judged likely to be less accurate.

You can look up the RD or Ratings Deviation, the second factor in the published api. https://api.chess.com/pub/player/ariel2350/stats

Here is the current RD for your rapid rating: 48. That is fairly low.

Your opponent's is 29, which is very low.

The lower the RD, the more statistically likely the rating is closer to being accurate.

You will have to read the other link I posted, along with other links to other articles (https://www.chess.com/article/view/chess-ratings---how-they-work ) to start to figure out how to use it in a very complex formula.

Lol, how did you even see my RD? Why can't I see it on my profile?

They used to post it for everyone but too many people got confused by it.
