With the exception of 4PC, the variant achievements are only awarded for playing the games in Play, not the Variants server.

If you are on a trial you won't get the achievement until the trial is over and the subscription fee is charged.

You don't get it if you're on the trial. You only get it once the trial converts into a paid membership.
Maybe it's because we are still on the free trial week so we aren't technically members since we aren't paying
