"Save Analysis" move submitted as move made

For the past 5 days I have had an intermittent issue in Daily games. Normally, while planning my next move in the  Analysis view, I enter the move I intend to make as well as the hypothetical moves my opponent might make and the different moves I would make in response, then I hit "Save Analysis" so I can refer to my planning on future turns. But in multiple games now, when I scroll my browser down to where the Save Analysis button should be, there's the Check button you hit when you are confirming and submitting your move. The Save Analysis button is further down the page beneath the Check button. Both buttons are green and the Check button is not normally available on the Analysis view, so I see green, muscle memory kicks in and I hit the Check button before I realize there is a problem. Instead of saving my analysis, the last move of my hypothetical line is submitted in the actual game as the move I played. This has caused spectacular blunders in 3 games so far. I have managed to catch this beforehand and avoid hitting the Check button in maybe 20 games. Or I get an error message if the last move of my analysis is not a legal move on the current board. And other games are appearing perfectly normal, with no ability to do anything in Analysis other than saving analysis. This is happening on DuckDuckGo and Safari browsers. I have closed out and cleared the cache, but no luck. Is this a known issue?

Hi ClaireWL,

It sounds like you’re encountering a UI glitch that's causing confusion between the "Save Analysis" and "Check" buttons during Daily games.

From what you’ve described, it seems like a rendering issue where the button layout isn't consistent, leading to accidental submissions of hypothetical lines. Since you've already tried clearing the cache and using different browsers (DuckDuckGo and Safari), here are a few additional steps you can take:

1. **Update Browsers**: Ensure that both browsers are fully updated to their latest versions.
2. **Switch to Chrome or Firefox**: These browsers tend to be better optimized for Chess.com features.
3. **Disable Extensions**: Browser extensions (like ad blockers) can sometimes interfere with page layouts. Try disabling them temporarily to see if it resolves the problem.
4. **Contact Support**: If the issue persists, I recommend reporting it to Chess.com Support. You can do this by clicking the “Help” icon at the bottom of the site, selecting “Report a Bug,” and providing a detailed description along with screenshots.

In the meantime, double-check the button placement before confirming moves, especially in critical games. Hopefully, this helps, and the issue will be resolved soon!

Best regards,

ClaireWL

This is still happening to me on multiple browsers and I have confirmed that at least a few other players are having the same issue. I can't get through to support to report a bug without the chat conversation just ending. I have been super careful not to hit the button to confirm the move when I am in Analysis mode. But I have now had two separate games where I save my analysis like normal, and then make my intended move like normal, but the move that appears in the game is the last move in a sequence of a line of saved analysis. I've lost a bunch of games over the past month because of this bug. It makes it hard to want to play or especially pay to play when there is no meaningful support.
