Spammer Email!!
Usually, it's best to contact the site that the phishing attempt was targeted at - ie, if it was a phishing attempt to get your Amazon info, then forward it to Amazon.
Creg: Most ISP's won't even look at something like that. There is far too much phishing going on and most simply don't have the resources to deal with every phishing complaint.
Etienne: Same thing. Especially given that most phishing attempts are done from out of the country anyways - the FBI couldn't do anything about it even if they DID have the manpower.
Best thing IMO: flag it as spam, and ignore it. I get dozens of these every day. *I* don't have the resources to bother dealing with them. At least you recognized it for what it was and didn't give away your info. As long as people keep falling for it, this will continue.
I got an email in my messages (not my chess.com email) and it was a phishing message wanting my personal information to wire me money and stuff. I have got this stuff before in other emails. But, who do I contact or forward the email to so that they know about the spammer?
