Tournament not showing in events?

Sort:

Hi!

Just started a chess club her on chess.com for my math-students, and created a new tournament (daily). Why isn't it showing in the "upcoming event" at the clubs startpage? Is there a box somewhere I have to tick? How can I schedule events?

And by the way, how can I easily access the tournaments I created?

It will only show up one hour beforehand.

Daily events are not tied to clubs, so there's no way to list it there.

You could use the private info tab to list daily events or forum post.

Ok, thanks a lot!

I am new to this and trying to do the same at my school. I'm confused and must be missing something.

Dailys are not a part of Tournament play? This time definitely works best for us but has proven tough to share with the students. Wish I could list events for the semester, for example, and then they could join the ones they want. This feels like a surprise, the way I've done it, and I am not confident they all receive the invite. And I am constantly check in to see if they have seen it. About 50/50.

I would love advice specific to school clubs that's makes it simple not just for me but the students and parents too. Like going to the club page and seeing what events have been proposed for the season.

Even when we get back to in person I know I will still have a group that prefers online play over in person and plan to include Chess.com going forward.

Thanks!

Had to start a "chess classroom" in Google Classroom, so now I post every event there instead. Doesn't really solve the issue, but works around it quite nicely. At least the students get the messages.

Awesome, thank you. I started a Google Classroom at the same time but have yet invited students and utilized it. This is a great idea, thanks again.

I use a blog on chess.com to post upcoming Daily events related to our club. That way you can set up events on the club for live events and direct them to the blog via the notes or announcement area to the blog that lists all of the daily's.

I'd really like any future scheduled events, including daily events, to show within the "Upcoming Events" in my club. If there are multiple, I'd be happy to limit it to the first few per live and daily formats. The comments here that "Daily events are not tied to clubs, so there's no way to list it there." is false. We can make daily tournaments "invite only" and open to only members of a club.
If it's true that these events appear when they are going to start "in the next hour" as someone has suggested, then obviously it's also possible to make them show earlier than that. And why wouldn't I, if there are no other events scheduled sooner?

You can make a Daily tournament invite only but there is no direct connection to clubs. It would take a change in the Daily tournament and club code to support that. I do not know id that is something on the roadmap or not.

Here's a screenshot from the config of my upcoming Daily tournament (this one https://www.chess.com/tournament/macmillan-fundraiser-with-prizes)

Does this really not count as a "direct connection" to the "Greene King" club?

If it's a club tournament it should show in the Upcoming Tournaments in the club

If it's the bullet club it shows but it will never happen. Arena tournaments require a minimum of 5 players and your club only has 2 members. It will cancel at the start it not enough members have joined

I´ve been struggling with this myself, not able to ´link´ my Daily chess-event to my club,
the only place they (all of my created tournaments..) would show up, was under Play -> Tournaments -> Managing..
