damn rip automate
Where is automate?
ok for real this time if you make a game in analysis and then copy and paste it into chess compass then you can do automate
Automate was my favorite variant and was very busy, one of the more popular variants. There are newer variants at the moment that never get played. Get rid of the non-played variants and bring back automate. I learnt so much from watching the 2 AI's play chess. This variant is not only fun, but can help a lot of people improve their chess playing skills

Automate was rarely utilized and buggy. That's one reason it was removed.

I don't know about buggy, but it certainly wasn't rarely used. I would always get a game in less than a minute. I'm not saying the reason given for removing the game is not what you said, but that was the reason given. While it was less popular than the more popular variants back then, my experience was always short wait times, much shorter than the wait times for the more popular variants I play these days. These days I can easily wait several minutes before playing a 'popular' variant.
It has been some time since automate was removed, but is still spoken about and requested to this day. Read all the different comments on all the different forums about automate and its return, and then consider if it was unpopular.
I feel the true reason for it's removal was more to do with the strain on the servers and that popularity was used to justify its removal with minimal backlash

The site has metrics on how often different each game type is played. Staff said it was rarely played.
It was also removed well before there were major server capacity concerns.

That was my point, what the site staff said and what I experienced were 2 different things.
