Chat History

Unasked_Question

Hi,

Can anyone help me with the following ,  please.

First some facts laying the ground for the question to come.

  1. I played a live-chess game with an opponent
  2. We had a chat in the private chat box while playing -
  3. It turned into a discussion which I find interesting.
  4. I was thinking to myself ; "I better copy & save this conversation"
  5. Forgot to copy , closed Chess.com and moved on to my other life .

Now my question is: Can I access the chat history ?

IF  your answer = yes  Smile

.           please tell me how

IF your answer = no   Frown

.          IF you are part of the chess.com team

.                 will you consider adding this feature ?

IF your answer = "don't know" Sealed

.        We are a team now, we both don't know!

Good day!

Thanks

Megan9

hello teammate!

Live chess chat history isn't saved once the game ends.  Looks like you're out of luck.  If you ever have a particularly mind-blowing chat, be sure to copy/paste it down in a text editor somewhere!

I'm here from 11 years in the future and it still doesn't save the chat smh, I met a really humble guy and it doesn't show our convo now

Someone accused me of cheating and I saw it only in a notification on my phone after I closed the game on my computer. Now I can't go back to that message. Thank you, Chess.com.

This guy '[Removed, DS]' was abusing and hurting religious sentiments during the game...how can I take the chat screenshot to report this guy.

First thing - Naming and shaming isn't allowed. Sk please remove the username

Second - I am sorry that you had to go through it .

Third - All you can do is report the person and wait for response. I suggest you write an email to the support. I am pretty sure even though we can't access our in game chats they can . But that's just a speculation

They should make it more interactive, and open the comments and chat, with saved texted for all games. Yahoo Chess was always fun because of this interactive element. This is an amateur Chess playing site anyway, so it does not need to be so serious. Distractions are part of life---and chess!

@Dhruvisgoat who is this

Tacomeats

Just take a pic with your cell phone of the convo or screen shot it if using mobile

Nowadays chess.com have a function where you can choose to see the message sent by the other player in the chat box or you can just ignore it. Normally i choose to not accept the permission for opponent to chat cause so far i allowed 5 times and all 5 times is not a good experience. It literally just gave me an impression that everytime when someone wishes to chat with you they just want to say something bad to you. They will either accuse you of cheating or just critised you for not accepting rematch or even critised you for flagging....i mean come on... his down a freaking rook, even if i don flag, you think you can win?

I had a couple people I chatted with be really sore losers.I used to always be the one who lost, and I've never acted that way, so I don't understand it. I've also met some fairly bad winners also. Still I've chatted with some great players as well. It's a game, oh well.

Still I do wish that even if Chess.com didn't allow you to access all game chats, it would be nice if we could access past game chats wt friends we've made. This would give users some privacy, and wouldn't be a huge drain of space on the site. If they were a friend, something about the game imparted something to both players, and viewing the game chat would be nice.
