Anyone else with this issue and/or a solution? Is there a better place to post this?
iOS app: move animation pauses ability to premove. Fix?
By "animation", I just mean that the piece doesn't teleport to the new space. It slides there. It's very quick, but lasts long enough to interfere with the next move in some hard-to-describe way. But I curse it constantly. I have the latest iOS and latest chess.com app versions.
Curiously, a couple of times in the past year -- but only a couple of times -- It seemed like the move animation had been improved / sped up in the app. But then the next time I went to play it was back to "normal".
I have this problem as well, please add an option to disable it. I'm coming from Android where it worked perfectly.
In the iOS app, moves always animate. When playing bullet (or anything else), if you try to input a premove or even just pick up a piece to hover it over a square during the animation of the opponent's move, it doesn't work.
In other words, you are playing, moving, premoving, hovering, crushing on the board, and then suddenly... your move doesn't go and you lose a second trying to figure out what happened and/or recover. The reason your move failed is because you initiated it during the animation of the opponent's move.
This makes time scrambles impossible. I have lost too many bullet games due to this bug.
Is there a fix? Note that there is no "No animation" setting in the iOS app, and the general chess.com setting doesn't propagate to it.
(While we're at it, it is also not possible to do multi-premoves in the app, which is another hinderance.)
