No sounds when I move

Sort:

Can anybody explain, why I cannot hear any sound after I have moved a piece?

I can only hear a sound after my opponent has moved, which is useless, but the board stays quiet after I have moved.

In my oppinion this is a clear disadvantage in blitz games, as I often lose many seconds still waiting for the oppenent's move, not realising that he has already done his move 10 or even 20 seconds ago.

Sorry I have to ask this, but there is a setting in Live Chess to turn sounds on.  Do you have it turned on?

You need to bang it a bit, just showing around won't make any noise... :D

Fancy_Pants_Orange

This has happened to me as well, but no sounds, including my opponents were making any noise...

Then I took the earphones out of the jack

Sound is on of course. However, I only hear my opponent's moves.

Maybe another comment to be taken seriously? Or am I really the only person experiencing this problem. (For me it is one.)

Fancy_Pants_Orange

Nah i was kidding, this really happened to me too

it happened for a few days and it was getting really frustrating since i was losing on time in blitz

i reported it to live help and support, they said try refreshing the page if your not in the middle of a match

i did and it seemed to work

maybe it was some sort of weird bug that chess.com has

Silanov

Thank you for the answer. So I hope for a change for the better. Meanwhile I will just play 10/0, where the effects are not so severe.

Do you use Mac? If so install Google Chrome.

Had the same issue, after you install it, problem solved.

Be careful here! You would be better off saying chess.com has major issues, than picking on the hearing impaired.

Funny though, the crack about the frigid WOMAN slipped through, untouched!!

DrSpudnik

I turn off sound, because it's irritating all that pointless clicking. Why don't they put felt on the bottom of their imaginary pieces!

WorldCupGirl

you need sound to play because if you are not paying attention and he moves you will lose of time

just joking

eddycuchecache

Sound is only needed when your shooting someone a raspberry!!

Senior-Lazarus_Long

When I move, I make a sound sort of like a Yak in heat. There's also the crackle, like fire crackers.

jjpbetterboy

It happens to me. What I do is simply reload the page and the sound comes back on. I realize that might not be good in fast chess, but for games like 10 minute ones, it seems to be okay.
