Some times a game is interesting enough that it's a pity that it's ended because of time runout in one of the players.
A suggestion similar to the draw proposal is for a player to be able to propose a time extension that could be up to the other player to accept or not.
If not accepted then game ends based on the time runout but if accepted both opponents get e.g. 1m additional time and the proposal could be repeated again later like a time top-up.
I understand professional/competitive chess is more strict on time but since this online environment is also a learning sandbox (e.g. to try out the endgame part), time extension upon both players agreement could be useful especially for blitz games like 3|0 and 5|0
