My friend you have a poet inside that has just been released. grin "Steam a queen and sizzling a king" Well, great stuff, actually brilliant stuff. wink & Why not? meh

To explain: First I had this "A Dish Made of Bish" puzzle that I brought to the attentions of the honorable members of chess.com. Not that anybody cared. frustrated To my horror the puzzle had multiple solutions, however I noticed that even the dualities were interesting puzzles of their own. So a side-dish (or 2) was kind of in the air. So now it is here.

Really fun puzzle with many good ideas happy. Black really has no way out surprise!

On move 11, White can play 11.Kh5, sacrificing the rook, and Black still has no way not to get checkmated on the 17th move (on the same move Black gets checkmated in the rook path presented in your solution) or before with White's best play: 11...Nxf7 (other moves are worse) 12.Bxb5 Ne5 13.Ba6 and Black just can't stop the bishop's attack on that diagonal 13...f1Q 14.Bc8+ e6 15.Bxe6+ Qf5+ 16.Bxf5+ Ng4 17.Bxg4#.

So, in that case, there is a dual on the 11th move. The theme of the puzzle was to deliver a rook checkmate after a long struggle, but the bishop can deliver it itself after the same amount of moves from the starting position. The bishop path is also an interesting puzzle on its own.

Oh, nevermind. Looking at your other puzzles, you were aware of the dual...

Still, there is «rook» in the title, but no clear indication that I shouldn't checkmate with the bishop, which confused me. I didn't except having to look at your earlier puzzle to understand the assignment.

"Thanks my friend. And YES! Black is toast!" tongue

In a way, I am glad that I did not put all the ideas in one frame, because as I am seeing it you figured it all for yourself, which in itself is the philosophical essence of puzzles. I usually hate dualities however, in this case it turned out to be a blessing, since even the dualities are not as bad. Actually I like them, and I am glad that finally someone liked it as well. However I am always anxious of the veterans comments, since they always shake their "no,no finger" at me for entertain "dualities" which are a curse in these region of the universe.

And @BishopTakesH7 my friend, here is the "Stea-M'A'Queen" & "Sizzle King" 4 you! wink
