Rudolf Charousek (1873-1900) had a short, but brilliant chess career. He died at the age of 27 of tuberculosis. He was mostly a gambit player. In this game, a King's Gambit, he finds a way to checkmate the great Chigorin, one of the top players in the world.
Very nice, where to put the bishop on move 1 was the tricky part for me. My first instinct was 1. Bg5+ hxg5 2. Rxf7#, but this overlooks 1. ... f6 blocking the rook out of f7. My next idea was 1. Bd6+ Kxe6 2. Re1#, but 1. ... Qxd6 2. Rxf7+ Kxe6 and black can slither away.
