How does puzzle work now?

Since the "Collect Puzzle Points" got added, I've never touched it. However, today I tried and the first thing I noticed is that these "puzzle points" do not affect the puzzle rating on your profile. So how does this mode work?

Your rating is still changing after puzzles with that feature.

Your rating still changes as before (and can be viewed as a graph in your Statistics, even if you have Puzzle Points on).

Gamey the thing may be, but it's actually kept me playing puzzles on a consistent, daily basis. Such is the power of Number Go Up.
