I'm temporarily using this as a "ask auntie" forum for the heck of it.
Now, here's the gist. My classmates built a Haunted House to raise funds for charity, and we were allowed to go in free. The problem is, I opened the door, took five steps in, absorbed my surroundings, and quickly exited.

Obviously, this is going to cause a truckload of embaressment(heck, it's not even supposed to be THAT scary).

Tips? Sage advice? Profanities for consulting you for tips and sage advice without paying a cent?

helltank - I've been a huge fan of horror and haunted house stuff since I was 5. I'm 36 now and after three decades of it, there are still things that even I can't watch.

Back in 2005, a movie came out called "The Exorcism of Emily Rose." I got perhaps less than 10-15 minutes into the movie, when they started talking about the case in court and the flashbacks were happening, I shut off the DVD player and that was that. I was wanting to see the movie for a while and I barely was able to get involved deeply in it. There's been a few flicks that I haven't been able to watch, and the original "The Exorcist" is one of them.

The point is, just play it off. You might get some ribbing and teasing, but just roll with the punches and don't let it get to you. I've gotten poked fun at because of some things horror wise that I haven't been able to watch, but it all went away without too much embarrassment. Cool

   I hope that helps.

Yes, but all I was really scared of was a battered radio, tattered black paper and a bored looking dummy receptionist.

And 12 year olds are more unmerciful than 36 year olds.

That might be the issue of an overactive imagination, anxiety or maybe a "fight or flight" response. Adrenaline can cause all of those reactions as well. I would just try to do your best coping with what might be the inevitable backlash of what happened.

That's completely normal. People around that age can be mean, just ignore them, and it'll pass some time. Remember that mean guys are the ones who have the most personal problems, and when you grow up, you'll just remember this with a smile.

Relax, Thanksgiving is coming. Who remembers Halloween?
