We have just returned from a rather strong tournament last weekened where my nine year old kid participated.
Prior to tournament we decided to let her play in Uner 13 considering the fact that she has been doing reasonably well in Under 9 category already.
The results were not that encouraging. She lost four games out of seven. And has been really upset about the same. She did not play her regular practice game the next day.
The biggest fear I have she losing interest in the game.
As a precaution, I did not talk about chess at all the next day. Instead discussed other activities going on in her school.
She has another inter school tournament coming up next week and I do want her to get back to practice.
Have any other parents found themselves in such situations earlier.
