Am I allowed to enter a tournament for 2000+ if I am unrated and is that a smart choice?

I might play in the NC open later this year. Idk if i should play in the open or u1600

crush the U1600 if you can, in the first round of the open you get paired with some 2200 probably

Part of me thinks I might be able to win the u1600 (I’d win $800 if i place first) but, the open would be a better learning experience

Hopefully come next year I can do an absolute ton of tournaments

If you can enter I think you should. Even if you lose every game (and considering your 1500 cc you probably will, no offense) it will be a great learning expirenece!

How offensive (joking).

I don’t think they’ll let an unrated play, and now my parents decided against it.

Oof that’s to bad. If you still want to play OTB you can find tournaments in your state on the Uschess website

No I won’t sadly. Next OTB might be a 5 round 30|0 up in Grand Rapids MI. After that perhaps the NC open. I’m assuming you’ll be at the Missouri open?

Good luck 😃 What section are you playing in? Also I might be in MO and Kansas sometime in spring of next year!
