My children play, but they have not put in much time and therefore aren't very good. I'm not any good either, but I can pummel them.
Here's the question:
Do you let your kids win, or just play to win? What is best for the kids?
What do you think?
When I first played my son, I'd give him some advantage by letting him pick a couple of pieces to remove. Then as I got a bit better, I was able to set up tactics on the board for him (e.g. purposely give him a fork opportunity), this was much harder than I realized(and it made for interesting games). Later, I couldn't beat him anymore even at full strength. All the above took about 10 months; so hang in there... your kids will learn faster than you might think.
i find stealing ice cream cones from little kids hilarious.
so what? I'm basically a horrible person.
this is only a chess site!
