Thank you so much!

You might want to go to Harvard Square and ask Murray Turnbull, if he still sits in front of Au Bon Pain

This is what he looks like.

Cute!  But I'm not sure that he'd be a regular 6 year-old's type... Frown

Murray is pretty cool, but I wasn't suggesting he give lessons. Though I'm sure he'd know someone, or how to contact someone. For instance, I know Charles Hertan gave lessons, but I'm not sure if he does still or how to contact him. There may well be others in the area he'd likely know of. Or you could resort to the Google.

Ok, thank you. No luck finding anyone yet.  Have to have a teacher by mid-August.  I really didn't think this would be so difficult...

You can search by area here on chess.com. Being not far from Boston myself I've looked at the list before out of curiosity and there seems to be a few choices.

But also, with modern technology, you don't need a coach nearby as you can skype and play on a site like this with the coach to learn the same as if you were in the same room.

Have you tried the Boylston Chess Club over in Davis Square?  I know they have open house Tuesday and Thursday from 2-5;  I'd be surprised if they couldn't help you.   Don't have their phone # handy, but it's on their web site.

Thanks! I'll try all of your suggestions. Found IM Zierk's contact info on FB, but haven't heard back.

Skype is not really an option here, although I'm all for modern tech; we have a set daily schedule with teachers assigned for every hr, gymnasium-style. Besides, I don't see a class of 6-8yr olds doing too well with Skype lessons.
